The opportunity to shape space and young minds is a gift and a challenge at the same time for a landscape architect and as academic tutor, as I am.  I truly believe that art plays a role in this process, but also that the designed space has to fit the environment, perfectly in an ecological, economic and functional way as well. However, it must never neglect spirituality, humanity or art. These core features create and strengthen the ‘genius loci’ or spirit of the place. My aim is to reveal the intimate stories of every place through my work, enhancing these narratives. My approach is to find the essence of things, but this does not negate the personal. I am intent on raising questions and thoughts beyond obvious function towards aesthetics that help us to connect with the place, as well as with ourselves.
